A growing generation of artists is focusing on re-enchanting the processes on this reeling planet and creating drafts of worlds, which are interwoven with the fantastic. To this end, the protagonists create new aesthetics of the enchanted, the bewitched, but also of enchantment – using proven strategies such as collage, alienation, sacralization, encryption, subjective retelling – or even digital methods. Logical connections are often dissolved in order to reconnect the loose ends in an imaginative way. Thereby the artists often generate absurd juxtapositions of things that actually have nothing to do with each other in our common reality – or maybe do they? The 2024 / 2025 TERRA DIASPORA program is being developed by curator Stephan Klee together with the participating artists. Nicola E. Petek, an expert in figurative contemporary art, is the co-curator of the central group exhibition Welten Wandeln. As a curatorial duo, Petek and Klee are jointly conceiving and arranging the compilation of fifteen international artistic positions, which offer an astonishing range of topical, fantastic, subjective and playful approaches to the theme in the medieval exhibition rooms of Göttingen’s Old Town Hall.
